VISITOR GUIDE
Game Center WAI WAI is a neighborhood video arcade near Fujimidai Station in Nerima, Tokyo. We focus on arcade video games: classic shoot 'em ups, fighting games, mahjong titles, and selected modern machines. This guide is for visitors who want to enjoy an arcade beyond the large tourist districts.
WAI WAI is a compact local venue where players come to practice, compete, and spend time with games they care about. It is not a prize-machine arcade. The lineup is centered on video games, including titles that can be difficult to find during a short trip to Japan. The atmosphere is casual, and first-time visitors are welcome.
In recent years, many players from overseas have visited WAI WAI during their trips to Japan. Fighting-game and shoot 'em up players are especially welcome. Enjoy Japanese arcade cabinets, discover games that are difficult to find abroad, and meet local players.

FAQ
WAI WAI preserves an old-school arcade culture that is difficult to experience outside small, family-run establishments. Co-founder Masaomi Yoshii is a pioneering arcade operator who remains active at the age of 81. Before WAI WAI, he operated three arcades and organized Street Fighter tournaments long before online communities became commonplace.
His son Jun, who previously worked at SNK / NEO GEO from 1995 to 2001, continues to support his father's lifelong dedication to arcade culture. WAI WAI is a welcoming place for everyone who shares that passion.
Send us a DM before your visit. Staff will be happy to introduce you to local players in person. Our community welcomes visitors regardless of language or background.
The video was recorded in 1992 at Space Fantasy, Masaomi Yoshii's second arcade. His Street Fighter events grew through trial and error, and the scene expanded rapidly after Street Fighter II was released in 1991. Around 64 players attended on weekends at its peak.
